Home Sweet Italian Home
Included in the program:
All students are housed under the same roof - one of the unique features of Select Study Abroad - making our residence a real home away from home. Along with the individual rooms, divided into two, three, or four guests, there are communal lounges and an interior courtyard where students can get homework done as well as just relax. Each room is equipped with its own private bathroom (complete with towels and linens), a mini-refrigerator, phone, and (most importantly for summers in Italy) air conditioning. Wifi is also available throughout the building. Overnight weekend trips to Rome and Venice also include accommodations at three and four star hotels. See below for more details.
hile you will explore many cities across the Italian peninsula during the program, you and your sisters will call Florence your home. The Select Study Abroad residence is housed in a 17th century palazzo built for a noble Florentine family. In the 1920’s, the palazzo was donated to the Gould Institute, a foundation dedicated to the care and education of minors in difficulty that is still in place today.
-able, and the ideal setting for students studying abroad. You will attend courses at the Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici, located in the heart of Florence and walking distance to the city’s best sites. Before and after class, there are countless activities, demonstrations, and performances to take advantage of.
Located in the heart of the Oltrarno, the “real” Florence, the palazzo is wonderfully situated with a quiet courtyard and stunning gardens. The city is is safe, walk
It is a priority for our program that you and your sisters have the unique opportunity to live together in one location rather than in separate locations spread across (and sometimes outside) the city. Directors also stay in the residence with students and can be easily reached to help with academic, health, or personal questions and concerns.
